Between Rome and Florence, by private car

Rome – Florence

Between Rome and Florence, by private car

A direct transfer or a full day in Tuscany, with the option of breaking the journey where it is worth it.

Rome and Florence are about three hours apart by motorway. The high-speed train covers the route well, but a private car brings one clear advantage: the ability to stop. Orvieto, Lake Trasimeno, the Val d'Orcia and the Chianti hills all lie on the route or a few kilometres from it.

The service offers a direct transfer and an eleven-hour full-day tour departing from and returning to Rome.

Frequently asked questions

Rome – Florence

How long does the journey from Rome to Florence take?

About three hours of actual driving on the Autostrada del Sole, traffic permitting. With a scenic stop, allow three and a half to four.

How much time is left in Florence on the full-day tour?

The eleven hours include roughly six hours of travel there and back, leaving four or five full hours in the city: enough for the historic centre, less so for a thorough visit to the Uffizi.

Can we go through the Val d'Orcia?

Yes, and it is one of the most requested detours. It adds around an hour to the route and needs to be allowed for in the quote, especially on a single-day tour.

Is the transfer available in the other direction?

Yes, the rate is the same from Florence to Rome. The service runs in both directions, departing from or arriving in Rome.
